By royal decree, meet Ra The King, one of the very first titles in G Games’ 99 Royale saga. This popular online slot was one of three titles made to debut the studio’s innovative multiplayer format, a 99-player free-for-all designed for mobile users first and foremost. Ra The King applies this wacky new approach to a sturdy base game, complete with a retriggerable free spins feature with expanding symbols.
Here Are Some Screenshots I Took of the Game
On the surface, Ra The King seems like a normal, 5-reel, 3-row video slot. Don’t let this deceive you. Looks aside, this isn’t your grandmother’s 5-reel, 3-row video slot.
Fans of classic ancient Egyptian casino games (and I know there are a few of you) will recognise the main motifs: gods, mysterious books, sand, hieroglyphs, glowing eyes, and washboard abs for some reason. The music is about what you’d expect from the look of the game. These slots are single-handedly keeping the lyre sector afloat.

Should You Play the Ra The King Slot?
Absolutely. Even if it’s just to see what the heck is going on in Battle mode. I recommend bet365 Casino if you'd like to try your luck and beat the other 98 players, because they offer the game, have an amazing free spins promotion, and, last but not least, they are fully licensed and trustworthy! Our team explained more about the recent onboarding of 99 Royale to bet365 in our article.
I’ve been reviewing slots for donkey’s years, and sometimes I think I might have seen it all. But G Games surprised the scene (and me) with its fresh multiplayer format, which captures the chaos of online gaming and injects it into a classic slot package.
While the 99-player format is one of Ra The King’s strengths, it does mean that you are, to some extent, relying on others to make your game fun… or even happen at all. From time to time, I found myself in lobbies with only seven others. So it might be worth hopping on the game during peak hours, if possible.
As for the RTP, would you like the good news or bad news first? Too slow. While the Battle mode RTP is skimming the good side of average at 96.52%, Solo mode’s 94.04% rating drags its feet considerably behind.
Something I like about this game is that it’s always evolving through the Side Missions mechanic. These are extra quests that can unlock additional perks. There was only one available at launch, but you’ll see new ones pop up as time goes on.
It doesn’t take a super sleuth to tell that this game was built for mobile. Sure, it runs just as well on desktop, but brace yourself for a fair bit of empty screen.
- ⚔️ Unique new battle royale mechanic
- 🤑 Above-average RTP in Battle mode (96.52%)
- 😁 New Side Missions will be added
- 📉 RTP of Solo mode is considerably below average (94.04%)
- 😞 Lobbies can be quite small
- 🖥️ Doesn’t look quite as good on desktop
How to Place Your First Bet on Ra The King
Placing your first bet on Ra The King is as simple as finding Ra The King and placing your first bet. Alright, let me explain.
G Games’ 99 Royale series is a hot ticket in the casino scene right now, so a lot of operators have it in their catalogue. Our list of the top Irish online casinos is a good place to start.
Your exact route into the catacombs will look a little different depending on which site you choose, but I reckon it’ll go a little something like this:
Pick a casino and navigate to the registration page. If you’ve already got an account, grab a snack and meet me at step 4.
The casino will get to know you by asking about your full name, address, date of birth, gender, and contact information.
You might need to verify your phone number, email address, or both.
Navigate to the deposit screen and add some funds to your account. Some casinos will ask you to carry out Know Your Customer (KYC) checks at this stage.
Whack ‘Ra The King’ into the search bar and boot her up.
Open up the paytable and familiarise yourself with the features and mechanics.
Once you’re the king of Ra The King, select a game mode, adjust your bet value, and fly!

My First Moments Playing Ra The King
The 99 Royale tagline is ‘Spin, Battle, Survive’. And honestly? They’re pretty on the money with that appraisal. I tested the Solo mode first, which is a simple, mostly straightforward slot. The real selling point is the Battle mode, which adds a welcome sense of chaos to its sturdy base game.
Multiplayer Madness
Ra The King’s flagship feature is the Battle mode. This is the latest brainchild of G Games, which brings up to 99 players together in a frenzied, combat-heavy madhouse. Initially, I wasn’t sure how good I’d be at the multitasking required to perfect the attack controls. Thankfully, they’re intuitive enough that I felt that I was staying on top of the action and not missing anything.
Move Aside, Desktop: There’s a New Game in Town (Literally)
Nowadays, any slot developer with half a brain thinks about the mobile experience when designing their games. G Games went a step further and created a slot with a vertical display that truly feels made for mobiles – not just adapted for them. Does it create a lot of dead space when you’re playing on desktop? Sure. But it’s nice to see mobile players not be treated like an afterthought, and it shows that this studio is uniquely tapped into where the industry is headed.
Let's Talk About the Bonus Games You'll Find
The main event, the free spins feature, can be unlocked in both game modes. Side Missions and the ability to unlock additional skins for your characters add a little bit of spice throughout. If you need a refresher on Ra The King’s features, click the information (i) button at any time.
Solo Mode
Solo mode is a classic, no-nonsense Egyptian slot with ten fixed paylines. Landing matching symbols can award single-line wins up to 500x your stake.
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| RTP | 94.06% |
| Volatility | MEDIUM |
| Hit Rate | 37% |
| Feature Odds | 1-205 |
| Max Win | x5000 |
| x1000 Win Odds | 1 in 520k |
| Min Bet | 0.10 |
| Game Type | 5x3 |
| Lines | 10 |
Battle Mode
The hectic, left-field pièce de résistance: Battle mode! The mechanics are unlike those of any game I’ve ever played (except for the rest of the 99 Royale saga), so I’ve broken the insanity down into its constituent parts:
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| RTP | 96.52% |
| Volatility | MEDIUM |
| Hit Rate | 37% |
| Feature Odds | 1-205 |
| Max Win | x5000 |
| x1000 Win Odds | 1 in 520k |
| Min Bet | 0.10 |
| Game Type | 5x3 |
| Lines | 10 |
Matchmaking
Advancing into battle will put you in matchmaking mode, where the game will try and find 98 other participants for your arena (at minimum, it’ll settle for seven). You’ll be shown an approximation of how long it’ll take; in my experience, I was always up and running within about a minute. While you wait, you’ll be shown handy tips and tricks on the controls and how to perfect your fighting technique.
Power
Landing line wins will award a cash payout (duh) and generate Power. Two factors determine the size of the Power award: the size of the win relative to your stake and your level. More on that later.
The Power button will show how much is in your locker, and there’s no fixed limit on how much you can accumulate. The maximum amount of Power you can use in a single attack is known as your ‘clip size’.
Attacking
Pressing the Power button will launch an attack. When you hit someone, some Health will be deducted from their Health bar, and an equal amount will be added to yours.
If you can perform an attack strong enough to wipe someone out, the Power button will display a ‘KO’ symbol.
As an aside, I like how dramatic the game gets when you’re knocked out. Everything slows down, the screen zooms in on the final missile, and you’re gone. Chills.
Health
Each player starts the battle with 1,000 Health. You’ll be able to see how much you’re gaining or losing in your Health bar, which changes between green, yellow and red based on how you’re doing.
Targeting
At the start of the battle, you’ll be assigned a random player to target. From there, you can choose who faces your wrath in the targeting menu:
Random: A random player that’s not currently at their targeting limit.
Weakest: One of the players with the lowest current Health.
Strongest: One of the players with the highest current Level.
Attackers: Anyone and everyone attacking you. Damage will be split equally across all players trying to give you grief.
To prevent one person getting ganged up on, Ra The King enforces targeting limits. If someone you’re locked in on becomes unavailable (by reaching their limit or being eliminated), you’ll automatically be assigned to some other poor soul.
Levels
All players begin at Level 0 with the potential to progress to Level 5.
Hitting your first KO will advance you to Level 1. You’ll need an increasing number of KOs to reach subsequent levels.
When you knock someone out of the game, their KO count will be added to yours.
The higher your level, the more Power you’ll generate from slot wins. Told you I’d get back around to it!
Elimination
It was fun while it lasted, right? When your health reaches zero, that’s the end of the road. All slot winnings are paid out and, if you’re eligible, you’ll get a slice of the Battle Prize.
This is funded through a portion of every stake placed during the battle and is distributed between players who finish in prize-paying positions. The fewer players in the lobby, the fewer will receive a piece of the pie:
| Number of players | Number of prize-paying positions |
|---|---|
| 76–99 | 15 |
| 61–75 | 10 |
| 51–60 | 9 |
| 41–50 | 8 |
| 31–40 | 6 |
| 21–30 | 5 |
| 11–20 | 3 |
| 8–10 | 2 |
To be eligible, you'll need to have made at least one paid spin during the battle.

Superwilds
The Book symbol is a ‘Superwild’, filling the boots of both a wild and a scatter. This means it both substitutes for other symbols to form line wins and triggers the free spins feature.
/fit-in/126x126/1705915688/free-spins.png)
Free Spins Feature
Landing three or more Book symbols anywhere on the reels will award eight free spins.
At the start of the free spins round, one regular symbol is randomly selected to become a special expanding symbol for the remainder of the feature.
These expanding symbols pay according to the paytable, even when they’re on non-adjacent reels.
The feature can be retriggered by landing three or more additional Book symbols, which will award another eight spins. Immediately after, another regular symbol will be selected to become a special expanding symbol alongside the original one. If you manage to convert all regular symbols into specials, you’ll just get the eight extra spins.
The free spins feature can be triggered in both Solo and Battle modes.
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
Side Missions
Side Missions are quests that run alongside the main gameplay and offer additional rewards.
There was only one available at launch: Loot Crates. This carried a prize value that increased as a clock ticked down, and could be awarded at random. If it hadn’t been dealt out before the timer ran to zero, the value would be reset.
Skins
Completing certain Side Missions and participating in events can unlock additional skins for your character.
Some Technical Considerations About Ra The King
I scoured G Games’ official documentation to get the lowdown on Ra The King’s engine and mechanics:
Ra The King’s RTP is a bit of a mixed bag. The Solo mode RTP is 94.04%, which is considerably below the 96.5% market average in Ireland. The Battle mode has an RTP of 96.52%. This, as well as the fact that it’s a bit more fun, makes it the winner of the two in my books.
Volatility describes how much a slot’s payouts are likely to vary in size and frequency. Less volatile games tend to pay out small amounts relatively consistently, while those who prefer high-volatility slots should brace themselves for long dry spells. Ra The King is a medium-volatility slot, so you can hope for something a bit more middle-of-the-road.
The maximum win potential of Ra The King is 5,000x your base bet. In my experience, medium-volatility games typically cap your wins between 2,000x and 5,000x your stake, so this is pretty decent. Especially considering that this doesn’t apply to the battle prize. Result.
Ra The King supports autoplay, but not all casinos support it. Something worth double-checking if that’s your vibe.
Why Do I Think Ra The King Stands Out?
Ra The King ticks a heck of a lot of boxes. If you’re into battle royale-style gameplay, retro fighting games, ancient Egypt, or traditional slots, it’s got something for you. For me, the standout quality is its intuitiveness, given the sheer number of moving parts. G Games has pulled out all the stops to deliver a truly innovative format to propel slot gaming into the mobile era, and I’m all here for it.
Some Q&As That Might Interest You
Here are some questions you might still have about Ra The King:
What is the maximum win potential of Ra the King?
Ra The King has a maximum win potential of 5,000x the value of your stake, but this does not apply to battle prizes. Bear in mind that some operators may enforce their own win caps, so make sure to check the terms and conditions before placing any cash bets.
Is there a Ra The King 99 Royale demo?
Yes, you can try Ra The King 99 Royale in free play mode by scrolling to the top of this page. Checking out a slot demo before committing real money to a slot is always a good idea, but it’s particularly useful when you’re dealing with features as unique as Ra The King’s.
What is Ra The King 99 Royale’s RTP?
It depends on which game mode you’re playing. Solo mode has an RTP of 94.04%, while Battle mode has an RTP of 96.52%.
