Meet Cherry Blossom, one of three hot new titles in G Games’ 99 Royale series. This game ushers in an innovative new online slot format that comes with two game modes: Solo, a classic scatter pays slot experience, and Battle. This is a free-for-all brawl, where you’re launched into a lobby with up to 98 other players to duke it out to reach the top of the leaderboard. The mechanics are like nothing I’ve ever seen before, so read on to find out if Cherry Blossom should be on your radar.
Here Are Some Screenshots I Took of the Game
A lot of modern slots are built with the mobile experience in mind, but the designers clearly built Cherry Blossom to be played on phones first and foremost. The art style is heavily influenced by anime and manga, but this is mostly communicated through the loading scenes and character design; the gameplay itself is very simple. At first I wasn’t sure about the simple pink background, which shifts gently behind the reels but isn’t anything to marvel at. Very quickly, I realised that an intricately animated background would make my tiny phone screen far too busy when the action heated up.

Should You Play the Cherry Blossom Slot?
In my humble opinion? Yes. If anything, just to see what all the commotion is about.
I’ve reviewed hundreds of slots in my time, and I very rarely come across something that’s truly, fundamentally unique. The multiplayer mode is exactly that, bringing together up to 99 players per round for an erratic yet surprisingly easy-to-follow slot experience. That being said, lobbies can be much smaller. Sometimes, I found myself duking it out with as few as seven other players.
I’ve got good news and bad news about the Return To Player (RTP) percentage. Solo mode’s RTP comes in considerably below the 96.5% market average at 94.04%, while Battle mode’s sits at a respectable 96.54%.
Personally, I’m a big fan of the scatter pays model; I think it makes gameplay accessible and beginner-friendly, and contributes to the ‘mobile slot game’ feel. Speaking of mobile, desktop players should brace themselves: for once, they aren ’t the centre of the developers’ attention, since the portrait layout creates a lot of dead space on wide screens.
- Novel multiplayer mode
- Above-average RTP in Battle mode (96.54%)
- Scatter pays model makes wins easy to track
- Below-average RTP in Solo mode (94.04%)
- Some lobbies are as small as eight players
- Doesn’t look as good on desktop
How to Place Your First Bet on Cherry Blossom
First things first, you’ll need to find a casino that stocks it. I’d recommend checking out the big-name platforms first, because the new 99 Royale mechanic is currently the talk of the town. Our lists of the top Irish casinos are a great first port of call for this sort of business. We recommend bet365 casino, which recently struck a deal with 99 Royale and offers great free-spins promotions that complement this slot.
Regardless of which casino you choose, your journey to Cherry Blossom will look a little like this:
Pick a platform and navigate to the registration screen. If you already have one, I’ll see you at step four.
The casino will quiz you on fun facts about yourself. Think full name, address, date of birth, gender, phone number, email address… That sort of thing.
Create a username and strong password.
Make a deposit. Some casinos will ask you to carry out Know Your Customer (KYC) checks before you can add any funds to your account. There’s a chance you might have to verify your phone number or email address, too.
Boot up Cherry Blossom.
Find the information page and paytable and brush up on the game’s features and mechanics.
Once you’re confident, select a game mode, adjust your stake value, and get into the arena!
My First Moments Playing Cherry Blossom
I know slots are technically video games, but Cherry Blossom really feels like an old-school anime fighting game, from the character skins to the colour-changing health bar. The simple gameplay is studded with surprisingly cinematic touches. I particularly like how the game slows down when you’re just about to be knocked out. The action freezes, and the screen zooms in on the missile that’ll deliver the final blow. A big ‘KO’ appears on screen, and everything fades… Oh, how the mighty fall.
Mobile Game Nostalgia Meets Modern Slot Mechanics
Cherry Blossom is played on a 6x5 grid and operates on a scatter pays mechanic. Unlike traditional slots, which pay out when you land matching symbols on set paylines, wins are formed by landing eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the screen. This gives the slot a welcome ‘early 2010s mobile game’ vibe, and makes it exceptionally easy to spot winning combinations as they form.
You, Me, and 97 Other Guys
The standout feature of Cherry Blossom is the fact that there are nearly one hundred randoms in there with us. As someone who’s only used to single-player slots, it was a bit strange at first to have company. The attack controls are a lot more intuitive than I thought they’d be, and I managed to get to grips with them after around three rounds. Since then, I’ve been a big fan of the extra layer of strategy they bring to the table.
Let's Talk About the Bonus Games You'll Find
Cherry Blossom has two game modes: Solo and Battle. The main feature, the free games bonus round, can be unlocked in either of these. Click on the paytable or information (i) button if you’d like a refresher course on how all the controls work. I found myself reaching for this a lot when I was learning how all the attack functions work.
Solo Mode
Solo mode is a simple, bright scatter pays slot. Players secure wins by landing eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the reels. Winning combinations disappear and allow additional symbols to move in. The round ends when no more winning combinations can form.

Battle (Multiplayer) Mode
This game mode is played on the same grid as its Solo counterpart and has the same scatter pays and avalanche reels mechanics.
Your core objective is to survive as long as possible by protecting your health bar and wreaking havoc on everyone else's. The last man standing wins.
It’s an atypical game format, so I’ll break it down into seven key stages:
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| RTP | 96.54% |
| Volatility | HIGH |
| Hit Rate | 39% |
| Feature Odds | 1-284 |
| Max Win | x3300 |

| Min Bet | 0.20 |

Matchmaking
When you boot up Battle mode, you’ll be given an estimate of how long it’ll take to put you in a lobby. In my experience, this was never longer than 30 seconds or so.
The smallest number of players per round is eight. The fewer players there are, the fewer players will split the Battle Prize:
| Number of players | Prize-paying position (top finishing players) |
|---|---|
| 76–99 | 15 |
| 61–75 | 10 |
| 51–60 | 9 |
| 41–50 | 8 |
| 31–40 | 6 |
| 21–30 | 5 |
| 11–20 | 3 |
| 8–10 | 2 |
The Battle Prize is created by shaving off a sliver of stakes placed during the battle.
In order to be eligible for a prize, you’ll need to set your stake value and make at least one paid spin before the event ends.
Power
When you land a win, as well as receiving a payout, you’ll gain a Power award. The bigger the win (relative to your stake), the bigger the award. You’ll also receive larger awards when you reach higher levels, but I’ll get to levels later.
You can see your Available Power on the Power button. There’s no fixed limit on how much Power you can accumulate. However, there is a maximum amount of power you can use in one attack: the ‘clip size’.
Attacking
You can attack other players by pressing the Power button. This will deduct health from the unlucky target and add it to your health bar. If an attack could knock a player out of the game, this will be displayed on the button.
Health
Each player starts with 1,000 Health. The health bar changes colour as your health increases and decreases: green, yellow and red, traffic-light style.
If you get hit, the screen will flash red, and your health bar will go down. I like the little ad-libs; one time I got hit, and my little character said ‘Eeek!’, which seemed to downplay the severity of the situation somewhat.
Targeting
The right-hand side of the screen displays the targeting menu. At the start, you’ll be assigned to a random opponent, but adjusting your targeting settings will direct your attacks to other players as follows:
Random: A random opponent out of all the players not currently at their targeting limit
Weakest: A player among those with the lowest current Health
Strongest: One of the players with the highest current Levels
Attackers: Splits the power of your attacks equally amongst any players currently attacking you
To stop one player from getting dogpiled on, the game enforces targeting limits. If someone you’re attacking reaches their limit (or gets eliminated), you’ll be automatically assigned a different player to face your wrath.
Levelling
Players start at Level 0 and can work up to a maximum of Level 5.
One KO promotes you to Level 1. Reaching higher levels requires more KOs. If you knock someone out, their KO count will be added to yours.
The higher your level, the more power you’ll generate from landing scatter wins.
Elimination
Alas, all good things must come to an end. Players are eliminated when their health reaches zero. If you don’t quite make it to a winning position, you’ll still receive all your slot winnings from the round. If you reach one of the top spots, your proportion of the Battle Prize will be based on your finishing position and the total amount of money you bet during the battle.
Some Technical Considerations About Cherry Blossom
I put on my finest maths hat to dissect the engine behind Cherry Blossom.
The slot has two different RTP ratings depending on which game mode you choose. Solo mode’s default RTP is 94.04%, while Battle mode’s sits noticeably higher at 96.54%. This puts Solo mode significantly below the 96.5% market average, so I’ll admit that I didn’t reach for it too often beyond my original test.
Cherry Blossom has a medium volatility rating, which makes the rhythm of the gameplay likely to suit a pretty broad audience. You’re not as likely to get brutal dry spells like you might with a high-volatility slot, but brace yourself for something a bit more fiery than a low-volatility game.
If it’s permitted at your chosen Irish casino, Cherry Blossom has an autoplay setting.
Why Do I Think Cherry Blossom Stands Out?
Cherry Blossom is a wildcard, in that it’s a slot game designed for video gamers, not just regular slot players. It deftly combines classic slot mechanics (such as its avalanche reels and scatter pays engine) with retro-gaming design tropes, and the result is far more polished than I had expected going in. The low RTP in Solo mode will probably stop me from reaching for it too often, but Battle mode’s multiplayer carnage will keep me coming back for more.
Some Q&As That Might Interest You
Here are some questions you might still have about Cherry Blossom:
How Do I Cash Out My Cherry Blossom 99 Royale Winnings?
The process will look a little different between casinos – but as a general rule, navigate to the cashier, select a payment method, then request a payout (after checking that it’s higher than the site’s minimum threshold). You may be required to carry out Know Your Customer (KYC) checks before your withdrawal is approved.
What Is The RTP of Cherry Blossom 99 Royale?
This depends on which game mode you’re playing. The RTP of Cherry Blossom’s Solo mode is 94.04%, and the RTP of Battle mode is 96.54%. RTP can vary between casinos, so make sure to check it in the paytable before playing Cherry Blossom at a new operator.
What Is The Maximum Win Potential of Cherry Blossom 99 Royale?
The most you can win in a single round is 3,300x your stake, but bear in mind that this doesn’t apply to the battle prize. Your chosen casino might enforce a maximum win cap lower than this, so reach out to its support team before placing a real-money bet if you’re not sure.
