Cow stomachs. Cardinal directions. Limbs. All great things come in fours, and Pirots is no exception.
Pirots 4 is actually the fifth online slot game in the series, but I wouldn’t be allowed to reference cow stomachs if I opened with that. Elk Studios’ gang of weird birds is back with more wacky hijinks, and I’m totally here for it.
Elk Studios has treated us to a three-for-the-price-of-one deal, which allows them to pack even more bonus features into this crazy game. I found it a little hard to get my head around the concept, but I think it was definitely worth persevering with. Expect cluster pays, bonus games, and a bird trapped in an ice cube.

Here Are Some Screenshots I Took of the Game
Pirots 4 looks awesome. Each sub-game starts with a lengthy animated cutscene, which is pretty much unheard of in the casino scene. These mini-movies establish the location for each slot, which integrates them well into the core gameplay.
The artwork and graphics are seamless. Nothing looks out of place, which is particularly impressive for a title with so much content. Elk Studios made the game using HTML-5 technology, which improves cross-compatibility so the game looks just as good on mobile as it does on desktop.
Before I go on, I have to address the elephant in the room. The birds are terrifying. They’re excellently wacky and characterful, no doubt. But there’s a reason most birds don’t have human eyes.

Should You Play the Pirots 4 Slot?
Short answer? YARRRRR!
Pirots 4 is as packed full of features as it is taxing on my spell check. There’s so much going on it almost can’t be summarised. It’s kind of three games in one, packed in with a short film about theft, love, betrayal, birds, outer space, flamethrowers and ice cubes. Needless to say, the movie is awesome. Part of me wishes that the developers had packaged the three sub-games into one version with all the features. A bigger part of me thinks that would give me motion sickness.
While the volume of features is undeniably a little daunting, the gameplay itself isn’t that hard to follow. This is mostly thanks to the cluster pays mechanic – this means you can easily identify wins forming on the reels, which is much harder if you have to memorise a thousand paylines to recognise a payout.
In terms of content, story and sheer ambition, this is one of the biggest online casino games I’ve ever reviewed. I’m rarely surprised by online slots, but Pirots 4 is out of this world.
- 🎉 5 wild symbols pays €20,000
- 🎨 Good graphics
- 🥳 97% RTP and low volatility
- 😥 Paytable is slightly hidden
- 😔 End of the round noise is jarring
How to Place Your First Bet on Pirots 4?
Follow these steps to fast-track your way to pirate hijinks. First things first, you need to find it. If you don’t want to spend hours testing sites and writing your own list of top online casinos for Irish players, you can use the one we made instead.
No matter which platform you opt for, your space odyssey to Pirots 4 will look broadly like this:
Carefully select your casino and set up your account. If you’re already a member of a casino that carries Pirots 4, join me again at step four. Look for the ‘Sign Up’ button (usually nestled in the top right-hand corner of the homepage) and do as they tell you to do.
The casino will then try to get to know you. Expect it to ask your name, date of birth, address, email address and phone number. Create a unique username and a strong password you’ll take to the grave.
There’s a high chance you’ll be asked to verify your email address, phone number or both. Click links, enter codes, and proceed to your account.
Type ‘Pirots 4’ into the search bar and boot up the game. If you’re getting lost, ask customer support to help you find your way there.
Spend a bit of time learning how the game works. This is always an important step, but particularly with a game as complex as Pirots 4. Find the rules by clicking on the icon with the three horizontal lines. Bear in mind that some features vary depending on which sub-game you choose, so make sure to read all three versions.
Set your spin value by adjusting the plus (+) and minus (-) symbols next to ‘Bet/Line,’ then you’re all set!
My First Moments Playing Pirots 4
The second you boot up the game, a ragtag team of misfits barrels towards you in a poorly constructed spacecraft. You’re swiftly moved into the outer-space headquarters, where you must choose between three holograms. More on that later.
Given the pure chaos that fuels this game, it’s hard to pick out the most surprising features. Here’s what stood out to me the most:
The Rule Of Three
Presumably inspired by Western mealtimes, two influential political groups in the Roman times or the structure of the sentence I’m writing right now, Pirots 4 is a three-parter. ‘Space World’ contains three holograms, each of which leads you to a different sub-game: Lost In Space, Frozen Fury and Inferno. Most of the mechanics and features are consistent across all three, but each puts its own unique spin on the base gameplay.
I spent a while playing the demos to figure out how they differed from each other. I like how the split structure gives players a little more control over their play style, but part of me wonders if it’d have been better to just roll them all into one mega-game. Given the volume of the content in this game however, I could easily see this being overwhelming. Best keep it as it is.
If Nobody’s Bought The Film Rights To This, I Will
Pirots 4’s cutscenes prompted me to ask one important question: what on earth is going on?
The opening scene explains how the crew escaped the stratosphere in the first place. Spoiler warning: it involves robbery and a vortex. I didn’t expect any more animations after this, so I was pleasantly surprised to see one the first time you open up any sub-game. They’re exceptionally hard to follow: There’s love, betrayal, and a mecha-bird revenge arc. It’s awesome.
I hope more providers embellish games like this going forward. If your fan base enjoys your series enough to play five iterations of your game, it’s nice to reward them with a bit of bonus content. I appreciate the theatricality of Pirots 4 – you can’t have a plotline about a bird in an ice cube and take yourself too seriously, after all.
Let's Talk About the Bonus Games You'll Find
Buckle up. This is going to take a minute.
Pirots 4 has a staggering amount of content. There are some staple features you’ll see in the three sections of the game, and some unique to each sub-game. For your convenience (and my sanity), I’ll start by walking you through the core features, then delve into each sub-game's idiosyncrasies. You’ll get the hang of it eventually – if I can, anyone can.
For a full description of these features, hear it straight from the horse’s mouth by clicking on the paytable.

The Core Symbols
The majority of the reels are populated with four coloured birds and gems, with the same range of colours. The birds are red, purple, green and blue. Birds will collect any gems next to them of their corresponding colour, plus any feature symbols.
Gems can be upgraded up to a maximum payout level of seven using ‘Upgrade’ symbols. Upgrade symbols are numbered, and will increase gems’ level by one, two or three steps. ‘Upgrade all’ symbols (which look the same, but in gold) will increase the payout level of all four coloured gems.
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
Space Station
The reels are enclosed within ‘Space Station’ sections. If a bird can collect symbols connected by one of these sections it will pass through to do so, revealing up to two feature symbols along the way. If these sections are blown up, the setup can grow up to 8x8.
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
Space Portals
If there are collectable symbols on top of two or more space portals, a bird can teleport to collect them.
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
Bonus Game
If the birds collect three bonus symbols, this will trigger the bonus game. If one of these is a super bonus symbol (which has triple the amount of golden alien skulls), you’ll unlock the super bonus game instead.
Power Cash
A power clash occurs when three or four birds land next to each other on the reels. They form an electrifying orb-like structure and fly off into random directions before landing somewhere else.
Pirots 4 Bonus Games and Features
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
First Game: Lost in Space
Choose this path and the birds are rootin’ and tootin’ in a theme park when a black hole opens up above them. An alien thief pops out and steals a sack of gold and jewels. Red bird grabs his lasso and tries to nab him, but the gang gets sucked into the vortex and into the unknown. They are magically transformed from cowboys to space boys. A vulture, who has been keeping a sneaky eye on the situation, shoots his golden pistol at the spacecraft that has crash landed once the birds had disappeared. He teleports in and is sent to join them.
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
Lost In Space Unique Feature: Alien Invasion
The Space Bandit is a withered, reddening vulture who collects symbols column by column. This triggers features on the reels and initiates space duels. If you win a space duel, your ‘Space Bandit Spaceship Multiplier’ will increase.
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
Lost In Space Coin Game
This is triggered by clearing the entire grid during the Spacecorn feature. The objective is to create paths along which the birds can travel and collect as many coin multipliers as possible. You start with three drops. The drop counter can be reset by landing coins or bridges.
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
Second Game: Frozen Fury
After a superhero-esque montage introducing the four main birds, the blue bird presses a button very clearly labelled ‘Do Not Press’. This ejects a scraggly little bird into the void. He is encased in ice and crashes into a wintry wonderland of ice, glowing algae and big wins.
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
Frozen Fury Unique Feature: Yeti Snack Time
The Yeti is a gigantic white bird with a multiplier and sad eyes. He multiplies the collected values of the birds and freezes them, doubling his multiplier with every iced bird
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
Frozen Fury Coin Game
Similar to the coin game we talked about earlier, the Frozen Fury Coin Game is triggered by clearing the entire game grid during the Spacecorn feature. The drop counter mechanic works the same. You descend into an icy underground cavern, where the Yeti looms in the centre. Ice drops onto the grid, allowing the birds to slide around and collect coins.
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
Third Game: Inferno
In our final cutscene, the purple bird hallucinates a dollar sign over an asteroid and the gang flies into a ball of fire. The bird trapped in an ice cube dreams of being saved by the vulture (who he is also in love with). While he fantasises about incinerating the gang, the vulture swoops in and releases him with a flamethrower. He gets a mech suit and flies off with the red, bald love of his life. This one makes the least sense.
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
Inferno Unique feature: Fire Minions
Fire Minions look like the hero/vulture/love interest from the cutscene. They set adjacent birds ablaze, triggering a ‘Fire Marathon’ which creates a trail of ‘Mystery Fires’. Mystery fires blaze across the reels, leaving gems or coins scattered in their wake.
/fit-in/126x126/1763383979/special-symbols.png)
Inferno Coin Game
The core gameplay of the Inferno Coin Game is structured similarly to the other versions, but is probably the most different of the three. If you reach the ‘Don’t Press’ button, you’ll set off the ‘Charlie Feature’. This incinerates every bird on the reels, forcing them to walk over to adjacent coins and collect them.
Feature Symbols
There are five feature symbols: ‘Black holes’, ‘Wild symbols’, ‘Coins’, ‘Spacecorns’ and ‘Transforms’.
Black holes absorb everything on the reels and reshuffles them. Up to three birds can fall victim and disappear.
Colourful ‘W’ symbols are wild and can substitute for any gem at its current payout level.
Coins pay out their value multiplied by your current bet level. These can be 5x, 10x, 100x, 500x or 1,000x. The ‘Max win’ coin will pay out whatever amount is required to hit the maximum win.
Spacecorn (short for space popcorn) is collected by birds and will expand to fill empty spaces on a grid, which can help them reach more clusters of symbols.
Transforms manifest in the form of a mysterious gas canister. When huffed by a bird, one of the clusters of gems next to it will transform into its corresponding colour. Sometimes, a random number of gems will turn into other feature symbols.
Some Technical Considerations About Pirots 4
Was the breakdown of the bonus features not confusing enough for you? Fine. I’ll talk about maths then.
I analysed all the available documentation on Pirots 4 to figure out which play style the slot is best suited to. All three sub-games in Pirots 4 have a theoretical Return to Player (RTP) of 94%. This is the percentage of funds a slot machine is theoretically programmed to pay out over an extended period of time. This is on the low end of average, meaning this slot can require a fair bit of commitment before releasing a win.
Pirots 4 is a highly volatile game. Volatility is the measure of how frequently payouts tend to occur. High volatility games often pay out less regularly than the average slot, but the wins are hypothetically more substantial, so bear this in mind when deciding if this is the game for you.
Why Do I Think Pirots 4 Stands Out?
Pirots 4 has pretty much every slot feature that you could imagine. I felt pretty overwhelmed when I first read the rules, which are about as long as this whole article. But, while there are a lot of features, the mechanics behind them are pretty simple – I was surprised by how quickly I picked up
Considering how huge this game is, it’s particularly impressive that nothing feels crammed in. Features from the cutscenes appear in the sub-games, creating a surprisingly cohesive story for such a wacky premise and presentation. The characters have actual narrative arcs, which I’m not sure you could say about any other slot game.
Elk Studios pulled out all the stops for Pirots 4 – you’ve got to see it to believe it.
