Isle of Man-based omni-channel gaming software supplier, Playtech, has launched its first virtual sports product for the retail gaming market. Rolled out via UK bookmaker, Coral’s retail outlets, the roll-out is part of a three month trial.

Following the three month trial period, the company may release the product across all 1,000 betting shops in the Coral network over the next twelve months. It will also be broadcast via the Coral satellite TV channel.

Playtech has been expanding its virtual sports portfolio over the past few months and recently released a virtual tennis product across all channels and platforms. The virtual tennis product joined a virtual football, horse racing, greyhound, velodrome and speedway product. A virtual basketball product is currently being developed and will be released later in the year.

“The product was delivered swiftly and promptly and we’re delighted with the results,” announced gaming director at Coral, Mark Kemp. “Playtech’s new virtual sports retail product adds yet another dimension to the industry leading omni-channel customer experience we have across all channels.”

The product, a Virtual Sports Football Accumulator, mimics real life accumulator bets. It features four matches that play simultaneously for 90 seconds each every five minute period and which are streamed via a Linux hardware box solution. Players able to choose one of the four games as a featured match and still see updates for the other three matches. There are a range of betting options available to players.

“We’ve been working around the clock on a retail solution and firmly believe we’ve launched the best product on the market,” stated Playtech Sports’ head of virtual, Elliot Norris. “Not only does it play extremely well, it looks great and is extremely simple and cost effective to set up, distribute and deploy.”
