Why Are Seasonal Slots So Popular?
Unlike the seasons themselves, seasonal slots are available all year round. This allows you to feel the festivities whenever you like, with no one telling you that February is too early to be belting out some Mariah Carey. Some casinos even offer exclusive seasonal bonuses, which can be tied to these seasonal slots. I’ve been introduced to slots this way before, and I ended up sticking with these slots because I really enjoyed them.
What’s the Difference Between a Regular Slot and a Seasonal Slot Game?
Whilst some games might name some of their features to commemorate a certain time of year, seasonal slots have no mechanical difference from regular slot games. Often, like some of our examples below, these seasonal slots are fun reskins of previous games, designed to be a little bit of fun to celebrate the season. Some are completely original games, but even they have the same mechanics found in regular slots.
Our Favourite Seasonal Slots for Autumn
There are many autumn-themed slots out there, but our team scoured the industry to find the games we enjoyed the most that celebrate this time of year. You can find them in the list below, in no particular order.
Big Bass Halloween - Pragmatic Play
Celebrate the spooky season properly with this Halloween spin on Big Bass Bonanza. Big Bass Halloween is a 5x3 slot with 10 paylines featuring terrifying imagery like a crow feasting on a dragonfly, bloody hooks, fish covered in viscera and of course an evil fisherman, equipped with even more evil fishing equipment. This slot really commits to the bit, with a haunting soundtrack and creepy animations. My favourite thing about this slot was the often forgotten royal tiles, which look like stitched up flesh. This is because when you hit a payout involving these symbols, the fisherman will come and sever them open with his hook. Big Bass Halloween really will appeal to all the Irish slasher fans out there.
Halloween Planet - MGA
Taking more of a witchy twist on a Halloween slot, Halloween Planet is a 5x3 slot with 20 paylines and the chance to win 2,373 times your bet. The screen itself seems to be styled like a spacecraft, as if you’ve just landed on a planet dedicated to witches. The tiles are strange potions, a jar of eyes, a bat, a witchy silhouette, a witch wreathed in gold and a free spins witch. Both free spins and a bonus game are available in this game, with the bat triggering the bonus game. This bonus game offers you the chance to choose six bats to unveil surprise funds. Halloween Planet is perfect for any occult or Sci-fi fan.
Infective Wild - Pragmatic Play
Infective Wild goes all out with the spooky theme, featuring high quality animations and detailed graphics. This 5x5 slot game features 40 paylines, a 5,000 max win and a pumpkin-headed sorcerer, with sparks and flames flying off of him. The high-paying tiles further enhance the Halloween vibe, depicting strange potions, tombstones, bubbly cauldrons, a witch’s hat, a creepy raven and a possessed cat. The slot’s namesake, the infective wild, is a fantastic additional feature. Whenever you hit a wild symbol and it's next to a cat or raven symbol, those symbols will become wilds too. This then continues if those new wilds are next to any of the same symbols, having the potential to turn most of the reels into wilds.
Autumn Gold - Eyecon
Moving away from Halloween and the supernatural, Autumn Gold goes full on autumnal, bringing in the seasonal colour and imagery associated with my favourite time of year.
This is established in the paying symbols, which are mushrooms, pumpkins, a jam jar, a pair of wellies, a squirrel with an acorn, a funky little owl, an umbrella, an orange leaf scatter symbol and the wild symbol which has two acorns and large gold letters spelling out the name of the game. Alongside cosy graphics, the game brings a more simplistic style of slot game, with adjustable paylines, a 3x3 grid and a few common additional mechanics, like wilds and scatters. Autumn Gold features another mechanic, with their prize pick feature. If you hit three or more umbrella symbols, you’ll get the choice to pick three rewards which can be a price of up to 111x your total wager. This was my favourite feature of Autumn Gold and thought it brought a really interesting element for bettors to enjoy.
Halloween Jack - NetEnt
Returning to the horror theme, Halloween Jack is a 5x3 slot with 20 paylines and an interesting walking wilds feature. The slot includes ten paying symbols, including a horseshoe, raven, bat, horse, vampire and carved pumpkin wild symbol. These graphics really set the scene, but the walking wilds feature really stood out for me. Firstly hitting a win with a wild will triple your winnings, which is already grand, but during free spins, wilds will appear on reels two to four and will trigger a respin if you hit them. But the main feature is that if you manage to stack wilds, they will turn into an expanding wild.
Princess Autumn - SlotoLand
Bringing more of a fantasy feel into an autumnal aesthetic, Princess Autumn is a 4x5 slot with 40 paylines that features a bison, eagle and fox alongside Princess Autumn herself as the paying symbols. The background of the game is beautiful to look at, a golden frame wreaths the grid and behind that is a warm autumn wood. This background alongside the game’s colourful characters, depicts a fantasy kingdom ruled by Princess Autumn, where all sorts of animals run through the woods. The game includes wilds, scatters and a gamble feature, to elevate the classic slot gameplay. I particularly liked the gamble feature as you can increase your winnings substantially in a fun little mini game.
Halloween Bingo - Belatra
Halloween comes to bingo too, with this spooky little gem. You and dear Grandma can celebrate Halloween together with this game, which gives you four different bingo sheets to play with at the same time. If you have a winning combination on any one of your four cards, the value will be highlighted in red and if you’re one number off winning, the missing position will be highlighted in green. The game then unfolds as a regular game of bingo with 60 balls in total, 30 that are used for the base game and an additional 14 if you choose to buy more. Your host for this game is, of course, a haunted pumpkin who operates the game in a haunted wood.
Final Thoughts
Ultimately, these seasonal slots are excellent for all Irish bettors regardless of theme preference, as they’re all really fun and well-designed. My favourites were Infective Wild and Big Bass Halloween. I've always been a horror fan and these games are absolutely made for Irish bettors like me. However, if that’s not your jam, then maybe Princess Autumn or Autumn Gold are for you, to make your spins all snug.
