Club World Cup 2025: Five European Picks Backed on Irish Betting Sites

Starting on the 15th June 2025, the best of the best from around the world will lace up their boots and set sail for America, in what will be the first of many battles for the ages. European teams qualified based on their performances in the Champions League over the last four years, whereas teams from other continents qualified based on their performances in their respective continental club competitions over the same period. Inter Miami was able to qualify due to winning the 2024 MLS Supporters' Shield, which came with some criticism from fans.

With a brand new format and plenty of unknowns, betting sites in Ireland and beyond are already buzzing with odds and predictions for how the tournament might play out. The competition is scheduled every four years and follows the same format as the normal World Cup. Thirty-two teams will take part in this competition to find out who is really the best in the world.

Real Madrid has had a disappointing season and has not lived up to the standards the club sets for itself each year. In the league, La Casa Blanca finished four points shy of their ElClásico rivals, Barcelona, and had a poor run in the Champions League, getting knocked out by Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad.

Despite this, their team is solid and does include some of the hottest talents in world football. New manager Xavi Alonso’s side should stroll through their group, and with their fresh new signing in Trent Alexander-Arnold, it is no wonder that the team are bookies’ favourites to hoist the trophy at the end of the competition.

Manchester City has dominated the English football scene for the past decade, but this year has fallen rather flat. After finishing second in the league for the first time in four years, there have been serious doubts about whether Pep Guardiola can lead his team to gold in the Club World Cup.

In the group stage, their only real formidable opponent is Juventus, and they will most likely pass onto further stages of the tournament, but may struggle in future rounds against opponents such as Madrid and Salzburg. They certainly have a lot to prove in this competition, and the world is wondering if City can bring themselves back to their former glory.

Coming off hot from being crowned champions of Europe and France, respectively, PSG are looking to take this tournament by force with their star-studded team. The Parisians will enter the cup with a lot of confidence and faith in their manager, Luis Enrique.

Club captain Marquinhos and the rest of his stellar band of men will be aiming to bring the French capital back more silverware during their time in the States. Although they have quite a tough group stage, with some scary opponents such as Atletico Madrid and Brazilian champions, Botafogo, the UCL champions should navigate their way through if their current form has much to offer.

Vincent Kompany’s side is coming off another season of dominating the Bundesliga, and they are hoping to translate this success into the World Cup. With a squad consisting of players who have lifted pretty much every trophy the beautiful game has to offer, it is understandable why people see Bayern Munich as one of the favourites to win the tournament.

The Reds should stomp through the group stages with their only challenging adversary coming in the shape of a Benfica side being led by a 38-year-old Nicolás Otamendi. All eyes will be on Bayern and especially star striker Harry Kane to see if he can add another medal to his fairly empty trophy cabinet.

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea squad has had a strange season. They just about managed to qualify for Europe next season from their league performance, sealing their place on the final day. However, every cloud has a silver lining, and they became the first team in Europe to lift all major trophies after becoming Conference League Champions

Cole Palmer, coming off being named Man of the Match in the Conference League final, will be eager to prove himself on a world stage after the Pensioners have been missing from Champions League football for the last couple of years. Chelsea should eat the rest of their group alive, so let’s wait and see if recent successes have much to say about themselves.

Club World Cup: My Final Thoughts

All in all, the Club World Cup is setting up to be a competition that takes the world by storm. As the greatest teams from all corners of the globe are taking their skills and prowess to the USA, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top. If I were to pick a winner, I would have to go with the common consensus and pick Real Madrid to win the tournament. If you think the same, why not head to Betfred Sportsbook and place a 4/1 bet on Los Blancos to win before it's too late?
