Global provider of sports betting solutions, SBTech, has been granted approval to launch a sportsbook in Italy, allowing them to expand their reach in the regulated market of Europe.
SBTech was awarded certification from the Agency for Customs and Monopolies (ADM) in Italy after having successfully completed the required compliance process. The sportsbook has launched with its first Italian operator, NetBet.it which already operates throughout Europe including in the UK, Romania, Greece and Malta.
“This achievement opens up a new chapter in our ongoing relationship with SBTech,” said Alain Boccara. “The company’s skill and professionalism in meeting literally any challenge is the reason we are proud to be powered by their platform.”
As part of the certification process, ADM assessed SBTech’s compliance in terms of proficiency with Communication Protocol 3.3 which is controlled by the state-owned administrators for online financial services, the General Society for Information Technology (SOGEI).
“Passing this notoriously difficult test is a vital step towards our goal of offering our award-winning sportsbook in regulated online gaming markets globally,” announced Richard Carter, chief executive of SBTech. “Our strategic relationship with NetBet continues to go from strength to strength and will be further strengthened by this entry into the Italian market.”
The certification allows the operator to fully own the sportsbook offering and host a range of advanced technical features. SBTech’s full offering includes a suite of turnkey and fully managed solutions that can be customised for gaming operators. Their offering is specifically designed for bookmakers, gaming operators and land-based networks.
This certification and the launch of the sportsbook with NetBet paves the way for SBTech to establish itself as a major player as it continues to expand throughout the regulated Italian gaming market.
