Leading poker operator, PokerStars, has launched Beat the Clock, a fast timed poker tournament style which it has based on its popular fast game format, Zoom. The tournament games will last just five minutes and are available on desktop and mobile.

The sit and go style game has $1 and $3 buy-in levels and begins when there are 48 players registered. Players begin with 5,000 chips and it plays with four hands. In order to be eligible for a payout, players must stay in the game until the timer runs out and cash prizes will be paid out in proportion to the player’s chip count at the end of the game.

“Beat the Clock requires you to think and act quickly with a high level of skill which gives me the same rush of excitement that I experience on the pitch,” exclaimed Real Madrid footballer and PokerStars brand ambassador, Cristiano Ronaldo, in a new television advertising campaign he is featured in. “The timed element of this game makes it fun to play and means I can get that quick adrenaline fix on the move.”

PokerStars has geared this game towards all players, stating that new players will be able to improve their skill with the short games, while experienced players will be able to enjoy the unique element of speed that this tournament game format introduces.

“We are constantly looking to innovate at PokerStars and believe Beat the Clock is a great new addition to our poker offering,” commented Severin Rasset, director of poker innovation and operations at PokerStar. “It’s the perfect format for those who want to fit in some quick, intense poker action and is ideal for mobile play, where, in just five minutes, players can experience all the emotions and excitement that only poker provides.”
